Cape May, New Jersey to Lewes, Delaware
October 24, 2019
Day 132
Gorgeous morning! The drive is easy, but a little longer than I planned. Still, I am early and become the first in line for trailers. I am the only Airstream and one of just a few RV’s. While stretching our legs before embarking, I talk to a few people that notice the plates and we trade stories of our travels. Everyone is friendly.
Once on the ferry, I find that my seat mates are from San Francisco (El Cerrito)! How funny is that. They gave me a little more history on Cape May, which they love too. The trip is about 90 minutes but goes by fast. The sky is clear and it's not too chilly. Perfect weather. for a ferry ride.
We disembark in Lewes, Delawre. It’s a nice, easy drive to my sister’s in Bozman, on the eastern shore of Maryland. Like the drive to Cape May, it’s flat and mostly farmland. The drive thru St Michael’s is charming and leisurely.
It’s fun driving onto their property and seeing them wave me in! Vicky and her husband, Leeds, help me park in an excellent spot 10’ from their front door. They are super helpful in getting me level. I’ll be here for a few weeks, so I invested in installing a 30-amp outlet on their property, so I don’t trip their power. I finish the rest of my set-up and discover that one of my new adapter plugs (from Amazon) has some corrosion on it. Crap. Will look more into that later. This is their first time seeing the trailer, so we take a tour and compare the similarities of boats, which they have one.
Sparky gets some great exercise and Vicky makes a delicious dinner. Aside from this gorgeous location and seeing them, I am also using this as a place I can leave the trailer and Sparky while I go back up to Boston to meet with the Ortho Surgeon next week. My hip is killing me.
